2025 is soon approaching, and I have again been awarded the honour of designing and modelling the 2025 one-off watch to be made by Harold Pinchbeck – watchmakers of England, and raffled under the management of the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch and the Army Benevolent Fund.
This annual event has become a beloved occasion in the City of London, bringing together people from all walks of life to enjoy delicious food while contributing to a noble cause. The funds raised through this initiative will benefit the Army Benevolent Fund, which is dedicated to helping and supporting veterans and their families of the UK armed forces. Through this special project, I aim to create a unique timepiece that not only reflects the spirit of generosity embodied by the lunch but also serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have served our country.

This very limited-edition watch is part of an annual series, with one limited-edition watch being released and raffled each year to raise funds for this wonderful cause. Each edition is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans who pay careful attention to detail, ensuring that every watch not only serves as a functional timepiece but also as a beautiful work of art. This particular watch in the series has the same base dial design, as requested, but features a navy blue color scheme and detailing commemorating the Battle of Trafalgar, a historic event that marks a significant moment in naval history.
The Battle of Trafalgar, fought on 21 October 1805, was a pivotal naval engagement during the Napoleonic Wars, where the British Royal Navy, led by Admiral Horatio Nelson, decisively defeated the combined fleets of France and Spain. This battle ensured British naval superiority for over a century and thwarted Napoleon’s plans to invade Britain. Nelson’s innovative tactics, including the famous “Nelson’s touch,” involved breaking the enemy line to create confusion and maximize the effectiveness of his ships. Despite being outnumbered, the British fleet’s victory was achieved at a significant cost, as Nelson was mortally wounded during the battle, becoming a national hero in the process.

This unique watch is designed, and will be made, to commemorate the valor of those who fought bravely, making this timepiece a cherished collector’s item that tells a story of courage and dedication. Every detail, from the intricate engravings to the rich color palette, reflects a deep respect for maritime history and the indomitable spirit of those who faced adversity at sea.
Not only this, the watch will contribute to a great charitable cause of aiding those who have served in all of our UK armed forces and their families in times of need. This initiative not only honors the sacrifices made by these brave individuals but also provides them with essential support and resources to navigate the challenges they may face after their service.
By taking part in some small way in the 2025 charity event and purchasing a raffle ticket, each buyer becomes part of a larger community dedicated to ensuring that our veterans receive the care and assistance they deserve, further strengthening the bond between the citizens and the heroes who protect our freedoms. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of those who have given so much for our country.

I will bring you more details on the launch of date for the raffle as I receive them, with the main draw being held in mid 2025.
All design work for the watch, and images above have been fully designed, modelled, and rendered by myself using Blender 4.2 creative suite. For more details please contact me via email: jayargonaut@protonmail.com

Have a great day all😊.
Kind regards, Jay

My pleasure Jay, keep up the great work. As an aside, from my moseying of watch blogs, British boutique brands are certainly at the innovative edge of design, some rather nice ones! However, today I was rocking an old Soviet era Raketa Big Zero, cool throwback, very distinctive!

Thanks Andy👍, will do. Yes, you are right, there are some great watch designs being brought out by these British brands. Also overseas, such as Farr & Swit watches in the US, I like some of their retro designs. Nice watch! Never seen one of those before, I love that style of watch case! It reminds me of the big number phone we had at home when I was a teen, love it👍. Best…Jay
