Blender Lighting Can be Beautiful – The Cosmos-Flower Rose Window

I am going to write a more in-depth post about how I created this Cosmos-Flower Rose Window – I must admit I have developed a bit of a fascination with Rose windows, and the geometry that make them up! But I wanted to write a quick post and show you just how beautiful these designs can be, and how paying attention to lighting, when you are making a render, can beautify your design even more.

The design of this Cosmos-Flower window is one of my own designs. I created it in Blender 4.0 creation suite using geometry nodes, a bit of applied math, and a love of geometric design. As mentioned previously I am going to write a longer post about the construction of the geometry nodes set-up in Blender software (of course you can draw these manually, but this is a much longer and painstaking process), but for now I just want to show you how beautiful lighting can be, and not go on about the making and drawing process of these Rose windows.

The Beauty of Lighting the Rose Window in Blender 4.0:

In the version above I have integrated an image to create a pattern in the window. This is achieved by placing an outline picture via an ‘Image-texture node’ in the material nodes setup -I will talk about this more when I post about how I created this window.

For now I just want to show you a couple of sample renders to show just how beautiful they can look. A lot of this is achieved by just playing about with lighting set-ups in Blender, once you have your model built, and materials all in place. It can take time, and you can end up over obsessing, but the results are worth it I think 😊…what do you think?

I hope you like my Cosmos-Flower Rose Window lighting renders as much as I enjoyed making them. I intend to make many more designs of windows. I keep saying I would like to design one a month, but of course, life and work more often than not, get in the way of these plans…and now I have a blog to keep up-to-date regularly, so another thing to attend to 😊.
