Okay, so probably about 30 years ago now I took a drive to, I believe if I remember correctly, ‘Clumber Park’ in Nottinghamshire, which was probably about 1.5 hours for us. It was in my first car, a 1.1 litre Ford fiesta, that was so bad that once, when the clutch started to go, someone tried to steal it, but then left it about 20 years up the road as they must have decided it wasn’t worth the bother!
Anyway back to the trip, we took our happy drive to Clumber park and had a nice day out, as far as I remember, but then as we came to leave for home, and just on the out-road from Clumber Park, my exhaust decided it wanted to retire and started to break and fall off:(. Today I would handle the situation differently, but back then we were a young couple of kids with not much experience, no money, and a new mortgage…so we just figured we must carry on.
The exhaust pretty soon started to grind along the ground and spark…we did this all the way home with it getting progressively worse. I am suprised we never rand into any police to be honest! it just got worse and worse, but we finally made it home after a couple of hours, the car making a tremendous noise as we slowly dragged our way into our home road….grind, spark, grind!!

But we had fun and made a memory 🙂
There you go, I have had many memorable journeys, but that is the one that came to mind, so that must be my most memorable! I hope you enjoyed this short trip 🙂
Kind regards,
Jay

Hours driving along, dragging a tailpipe. That does not sound fun.

Hey Demaras, thanks for the input. No you are right, it wasn’t fun at the time, but of course you always smile about these things afterwards 🙂

When I read your article I was yelling at my screen that you shoulda used a wire coat hanger to hold the exhaust up.
.
But then you mentioned you were young then and would handle it differently today.
.
So…yeah. lookjng back now I see how this would make you smile!
