Over the 2023 Christmas Holiday period I decided to start modelling a still-life rendered scene, this would be a small feast scene in a rustic farmhouse type room. I wanted the setting to be quite warm, dark, and cosy. This is a work-in-progress for which I have more ideas, and a distinct focus point of the image for future versions.
I modelled and rendered the scene in Blender 4.0 software, taking advantage of the new ‘light-linking’ feature in Blender 4.0 to give the ornaments on the bookshelf at the back of the scene, just an extra hint of lighting that it wouldn’t of normally received in the real physical world.
I wanted the centre of the table to be the main focus of the rendered shot. It took me some time to model all the assets in the shot, the fruit objects can be quite tricky to model, but I am happy with the results:

I did a little post editing to add some added punch and depth-of-focus to really make the main assets of the feast ‘Pop’, I think it works well, what do you think?
Here is another version with a wider perspective of the room. The light-linking in Blender 4.0 was used on the 2 vases, radio, and photo-frame on the back bookshelf. This enabled me to cast a little extra light on these 4 objects without making the back wall glare:

This is just a quick post to introduce the image and setting that I have been working on, I am not going into the detail of the build. I hope you like the image and setting, and I look forward to bringing you the further versions.
It’s always an exciting journey to share these initial glimpses of a creative project. The image and setting I’ve been immersed in capture just a fraction of the overall vision.
These snapshots are teasers, offering a hint of what’s to come, without revealing all the secrets at once. It’s a way to invite you to be a part of the evolving story. Your feedback and anticipation are always appreciated and further fuel the endeavor as I work on shaping the subsequent versions.
The process of crafting something meaningful is as rewarding as sharing it, and I am thrilled about the journey ahead. Thank you for joining me in this endeavor, and I can’t wait to reveal more in the upcoming versions.
Kind regards,
Jay 🙂
